Definition of damping materialDate:2020-01-07

Damping material is a kind of material which transforms the vibration energy of solid machinery into heat energy and dissipates it. It is mainly used for vibration and noise control.
The damping performance of material can be measured by its ability of dissipating kinetic energy, and the standard of evaluating damping is damping coefficient.
During the flight of missiles, launch vehicles and aircraft, due to the working of engines and aerodynamic noise and other reasons, it will cause serious wide-band random vibration and noise environment. It will also excite many resonance peaks of structure and electronic control instrument system, make the structure appear fatigue failure and dynamic instability, reduce the accuracy of electronic control instrument and even cause failure.
